His basketball journey began in 2003 as a high school coach in Meridian, Idaho. This marked the start of an enduring commitment, where he tirelessly worked to instill toughness and discipline in his players, guiding them to numerous victories. His adaptable leadership style took him from Idaho to Australia and then Colorado, demonstrating his versatility in coaching across different environments. Eventually, at Southeastern University in Florida, his team achieved an extraordinary feat of 106 consecutive conference wins and six straight conference titles, illustrating his exceptional motivational and culture-building capabilities.

During his tenure as a professional coach in Australia, his efforts were recognized with a Coach of the Year award from Basketball Australia, solidifying his reputation as a preeminent international coach. At the University of Colorado, he continued to excel, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and diversity, leading the team to their first Sweet 16 in twenty years. His commitment to player development is evidenced by the 52 All-Conference players he coached, with 17 signing professional contracts, underscoring his talent for nurturing and bringing out the best in athletes.

His personal life is intertwined with his professional one, shared with his wife of 21 years, Crista, a former professional basketball player. Together, they have journeyed through life, sharing their love for coaching, travel, and horses and dreaming of owning a hobby farm. In August of 2023, he made a profound personal sacrifice, pausing his esteemed Division 1 coaching career to care for two terminally ill family members. This selfless act exemplifies his deep-rooted family values and resilience. He and Crista's upcoming 22nd wedding anniversary symbolizes their enduring love and collective strength in facing life's adversities.
