Always having a creative interest in life, I moved from art to writing, realizing I was never going to be Picasso. My first attempt at novel writing began before the advent of computers and the Internet. I typed with two fingers on an old fashioned typewriter. What an arduous and frustrating task. Imagining I was the next Stephen King, I sent off query letters and chapters to literary agents. One kind agent, made me feel good by saving I had talent, but suggested I learn to write by writing short stories first. Now all you receive from an agent query is “unfortunately”. Between working days and evenings as a School Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice, tending to my wife, children, and dog, doing extensive home renovations, and playing golf and tennis on a rare occasions, I wrote. Eventually, with a computer and Internet at my disposal, I finally sold a short story for $5. With my improved writing ability, I became a successful writer of short stories, all of which have been published on the web or in print. Back to novel writing and rejections, my colleagues and friends convinced me that my fascinating insights about human nature and relationships should be in a book. So, for the next number of years, I wrote Taming Your Inner & Outer Bullies, Confronting Life’s Stressors And Winning. Miraculously, it was accepted by New Horizon Press Books. I was doing extensive marketing and was on several radio shows. It was a thrill. Back to novel writing again, I put aside the first novel, Succubus Resurrection, and was now writing my second novel, which ended up to have a long list of frustrations. No agents interested. First small publisher terrible—no edit, no nothing, went out of business a day later. Next internet publisher (in name only) a disaster —no edit, inability to correctly place it on the web, overpriced, and hostile to criticism. Finally! Black Opal Books saw value in my work. They are a truthful and professional publisher of quality books. Double edits later, and a team behind me, A Sinister Obsession is on the shelves. Succubus Resurrection is still waiting on the sidelines as well as a senior romance.
All my stories evolve out of my vivid imagination and therapeutic and life experiences.
I love to tell stories about the dark side of human nature where the villains don’t aspire for happiness through personal achievement, but rather from their demented narcissistic schemes.
I still play golf and tennis, tend to my wife, children, and grandchildren, and do some art. I don’t renovate any longer.
