Over 43 years ago, Dr. Chakrabarty made history by becoming the first gastroenterologist to establish a practice in Southern California's Inland Empire, which includes San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. His journey into medicine began early in life, influenced by his upbringing in a family of physicians. Born in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai, India, he was inspired by his father, grandfather, and three uncles, all of whom were doctors. This substantial family legacy in medicine shaped his decision to pursue a career. As a child, he often assisted his father in his medical practice, gaining early exposure to the profession, while his mother played a significant role in his academic development.

Milan Chakrabarty, MD, received his medical education at Grand Medical School College, Mumbai University, where he earned his M.B.B.S. degree. He completed an internship at J.J. Group of Hospitals and continued his training with a residency at St. George Hospital in Mumbai, followed by subspecialty rotations at G.T. Hospital. After completing his medical training in India, he moved to England and worked in Internal Medicine at Mount Pleasant Hospital, Cardiff University, for three years.

Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Chakrabarty furthered his medical training as a Resident Physician at the Metropolitan Jewish Medical Center in Coney Island, New York. He then completed an Internal Medicine residency at St. Clare's Hospital & Health Center in Manhattan. He pursued a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center & Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
