Dr. Jaime Caballero Male • United States of America
Jaime Alexander Caballero, M.D., FACC, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist based in Tampa, Florida, with clinical expertise in coronary interventions, structural heart disease, and endovascular therapies. He is the founder of Tampa Heart and Vascular Associates, an independent physician-led cardiology practice focused on multidisciplinary cardiovascular care and advanced catheter-based procedures. He also serves as Collaborative Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the University of South Florida and maintains clinical privileges at Tampa General Hospital.
Dr. Jaime Caballero was born and raised in Colombia, where he demonstrated strong academic ability from an early age. In 1994, he earned national recognition as the National Champion of the Colombian Secondary School Mathematics and Physics Olympics in Bogota. His interest in science and medicine led him to pursue medical education at the University of Tolima School of Medicine. He graduated in 2006 with a Medical Doctor degree and received the Best Intern of the Year award at Hospital Fundación Santafé de Bogota.
After completing medical school, Dr. Caballero undertook additional training in emergency and trauma care. He completed Advanced Trauma Life Support training at the University de La Salle in Bogota and participated in emergency airway management training at the University of Rosario. In 2009, he moved to the United States to further his medical education and begin residency training in internal medicine within a leading academic health system.
He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Yale School of Medicine, Saint Raphael Campus, in New Haven, Connecticut. During his residency, he received multiple distinctions, including the Kaplan Medical Honor Society Award for strong performance on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 examinations. He also received the Professionalism Award in 2010 and the Reach Excellence Award in 2011 for his dedication to patient care and clinical excellence.
Jaime Caballero, MD, later completed fellowship training in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Since entering clinical practice in 2016, he has focused on complex coronary interventions, structural heart procedures, and endovascular therapies. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he remains active in teaching, professional education, and collaboration within the international cardiovascular community.
