Alon Rosin began building his reputation in institutional finance more than twenty-nine years ago through a combination of trading expertise, portfolio management knowledge, and strategic advisory work. Throughout his career, he has remained active on both the buy side and sell side of Wall Street, giving him a broad understanding of market psychology, volatility, and institutional risk management. Today, he serves as the Managing Director and Head of US Institutional Equity Derivatives at Oppenheimer & Co., where he advises clients on sophisticated equity options and trading strategies.
Alon earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, graduating Cum Laude after making the Dean’s List during earlier academic years. Shortly after graduation, he entered the competitive Sales and Trading training program at Salomon Brothers, which later became part of Citigroup. The fast-paced institutional trading environment helped shape his disciplined decision-making style and sharpened his ability to respond to changing market conditions with confidence and precision.
Alon later expanded his experience by moving into hedge fund management and senior trading positions at firms including J. Goldman & Co. and Diamondback Capital. These roles provided firsthand exposure to portfolio risk, market liquidity, and the challenges faced by institutional investors. His experience managing positions during volatile conditions strengthened his understanding of investor behavior and long-term strategic positioning. This balanced perspective later became one of the defining strengths of his professional career in institutional derivatives.
Alon eventually returned to the sell side and continued building his leadership profile across the institutional trading industry. Before joining Oppenheimer, he served as Head of Institutional Sales for Derivatives and Equities in the Americas at BGC Partners. In that role, he worked closely with institutional investors while expanding the company’s footprint in the derivatives and equities markets. His ability to connect with clients and understand their operational pressures contributed to the success of the business relationships he managed.
Alon Rosin has played an important role in growing Oppenheimer’s institutional equity derivatives business by strengthening relationships with buy-side firms and expanding the firm’s trading capabilities. One major development during his tenure involved co-leading the acquisition of Guggenheim’s options desk, which significantly increased the size and reach of the derivatives team. Beyond finance, he has also supported charitable initiatives for many years and remains active in sports, travel, and philanthropy while continuing to guide institutional clients through complex market conditions.
