Anthony Qi Male • United States of America
Anthony Qi was born in Buffalo, NY, but raised in Houston in a family that deeply valued education and exploration. Growing up in such an environment gave him both curiosity and discipline, traits that shaped his academic and professional path. After high school, he was admitted to the prestigious Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, one of the nation’s most selective undergraduate business tracks, which further honed his ambition and drive for excellence.
At UT Austin, Anthony majored in Finance and minored in Spanish, graduating in 2018 with a major GPA of 3.5/4.0. His coursework refined his analytical skills while the honors curriculum immersed him in challenging cases and team-based projects. In 2015, he studied abroad at the Universidad de San Andrés in Buenos Aires, where he focused on program management while gaining fluency in Spanish through a rare, immersive cultural and academic experience that expanded his perspective.
Anthony began his professional journey with internships at Goshawk Global Investments, Nine Ten Capital Management, and Intertek in Shanghai. These roles exposed him to global markets and diverse industries, forming the foundation for a career in high-level analysis. His first full-time role was at Highside Global Management, a $250 million long/short equity hedge fund. For nearly four years, he sourced investment ideas and led sector coverage across advertising, transportation, and logistics while refining a disciplined, evidence-based investment approach.
After establishing himself in Finance, Anthony transitioned into product development, taking on a pivotal role as the first employee at a startup creating research tools for hedge funds and investigative journalists. He helped design features, build partnerships, and grow client relationships while directly contributing to the technical side through data analysis, UI/UX input, and system development. His versatility allowed him to bridge Finance, technology, and product design in a uniquely impactful way.
Today, Anthony Qi continues to combine his fluency in Finance with technical skills in Python and TypeScript. He is fluent in Spanish, conversational in Chinese, and adept at connecting across cultures. Outside of work, he invests actively, plays tennis, lifts weights, climbs, and enjoys gaming. His career remains defined by curiosity, problem-solving, and a drive to create meaningful impact across disciplines.
