During high school, he was actively involved in sports, honing his leadership and teamwork skills, which would later play a pivotal role in his career.

Post-graduation from Clear Lake High School in 1991, he embarked on an academic journey at the University of Texas in Austin, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. His pursuit of knowledge continued with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Polymers from Florida State University in 2000, laying the foundation for a career filled with achievements.

His professional path began at Mosaic Technologies in Waltham, Massachusetts, where he excelled as a Senior Scientist. His work involved developing a novel 3-D biopolymer substrate for microarray fabrication, marking the start of a series of significant professional accomplishments. He then progressed through various roles at Matrix Technologies, Apogent Technologies, and Fisher Scientific, continually enhancing his scientific and leadership skills.

In 2005, Dr. Brian Patterson joined Agilent Technologies, beginning as a Genomics Field Applications Scientist. He quickly rose to become a Product Specialist and District Manager. His outstanding contributions to the company were recognized with the President's Club award in 2009 and 2014. From 2015 to 2022, he took on the role of Associate Vice President, leading three commercial channels within Agilent's Diagnostics and Genomics Group and founding the Corporate Accounts channel.
