Chapin Newhard Male • United States of America
Chapin Newhard is the founder of 48North, a buy-side advisory firm launched in 2023 to assist family-owned and founder-led businesses in finding the right private equity partners. The firm helps entrepreneurs looking to grow, retire, or explore various business options, ensuring their interests are prioritized throughout the process.
The idea for 48North was born from Chapin's experience at Pine Tree Equity, a private equity firm in Miami. While there, he witnessed business owners' struggles when selling their companies. Many were overwhelmed by the sheer number of potential buyers and the complexity of the process, especially those who had never sold a business before. Chapin recognized the need for an advisory service representing the business owner's interests without charging upfront fees.
This insight led Chapin to start 48North, a firm designed to help business owners navigate the complexities of connecting with private equity investors. 48North’s model sets it apart by offering services without financial risk to the business owner. The firm’s fees are only paid by the buyer, making it a mutually beneficial partnership for the business owner, who receives tailored advice and guidance without the burden of initial costs.
48North offers several services, including buy-side advisory, capital raising, and succession planning. In a buy-side advisory, the firm helps family-owned businesses identify investors who share their vision and long-term goals. Chapin’s extensive network of private equity firms ensures business owners are presented with the best options.
For businesses seeking growth, 48North also offers capital-raising services. This helps companies find the right investment partners to support their expansion, whether entering new markets, launching new products, or scaling operations. The firm simplifies the capital-raising process, ensuring business owners have clear guidance.
Succession planning is another key service that 48North provides. The firm helps business owners navigate the leadership transition, whether passing the business down to the next generation or bringing in an external buyer. This ensures the business’s legacy is maintained while aligning with the owner’s personal and professional objectives.
