Erin Sydney Welsh is an associate attorney practicing matrimonial and family law at Brian R. Welsh, PLLC, in Williamsville, New York, just outside Buffalo. She advises and represents clients in divorce, custody, child support, prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement matters, and family offenses. Her responsibilities include appearances in both the Supreme Court and the Family Court, as well as appellate matters. A significant portion of her practice involves trial and appellate advocacy in parental alienation cases. After graduating from law school in 2024, she passed the New York bar exam and was admitted to practice by the Appellate Division: Fourth Department, in January 2025.
Attorney Erin Welsh, Buffalo, completed her undergraduate studies at Syracuse University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Middle East Studies. She attended on a full-tuition merit scholarship through the Coronat Scholar Program, which recognizes students who demonstrate leadership and service. During her time there, she was selected as a Remembrance Scholar, one of the university’s highest distinctions. She also graduated from the Renee Crown University Honors Program, which encourages academic depth, communication, and civic involvement across disciplines.
She then pursued graduate education at Trinity College Dublin, where she earned a Master of Philosophy in Sociology with first-class honors. While studying abroad, she published a peer-reviewed article titled “Assessing Microfinance as a Means of Socioeconomic Empowerment for Vulnerable Women in Jordan.” Her research focused on how financial systems and policy decisions affect women's access to opportunity in vulnerable communities.
Erin continued her legal training at the University at Buffalo School of Law. She was a member of the Buffalo Law Review and received the Robert J. Connelly Trial Technique Award for her performance in courtroom advocacy. She was also named a James Kent Scholar and served as a Property Fellow. Her practical experience included internships at the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and in the Attorneys for Children Unit at the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo. Erin Welsh also participated as a New York State Bar Association Family Law Section Fellow.
Beyond her legal work, Erin Sydney Welsh, Buffalo, volunteers as a judge for mock trials and moot court competitions. She lives in Williamsville with her spouse and continues her work as a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
