George Drazenovic Male • Canada

Since early 2020, George Drazenovic has been a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, BC, where he has taught a variety of courses in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. He also served as Chair of Undergraduate Programs for nearly four years. Before moving into academia, he held leadership positions in the private sector, managing several ventures in the junior public markets.

His professional experience includes HR management, recruitment, industry partnerships, business development, financial reporting, capital budgeting, strategic analysis, capital markets, regulatory compliance, and investment valuation. He began at UCW as an instructor in the MBA program and was later promoted to Associate Professor. In 2021, he was appointed Chair, reporting directly to the VP of Academics. By the end of 2024, student enrollment and faculty numbers had grown more than tenfold under his leadership. He oversaw strategic initiatives, curriculum development, academic governance, regulatory planning, budgeting, and collaboration with external partners.

George was responsible for managing three undergraduate programs: Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce (ACBSP-accredited), and Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, supporting over 5,500 students and more than 200 faculty members. He served as a voting member on several university committees, including Senate, Curriculum, Governance and Standards, Quality Assurance, Admissions Appeals, and Undergraduate Program Working Committees. He led the successful renewal of consent for all three programs and contributed to the development and redesign of many courses.

George introduced academic leadership roles and structures that strengthened faculty engagement and improved student outcomes. He led the alignment of the accounting curriculum with the CPA Western School of Business and introduced certification-aligned, technology-driven courses to expand professional opportunities. His contributions also included modernizing the curriculum, improving scheduling, and successfully transitioning to a new learning management system. He mentored faculty, supported DEI efforts, organized events such as Pitch Night, and enhanced employer involvement in academic programs.

Before joining UCW, he served as CFO, CEO, and Director for several public companies. He led mining exploration efforts and secured funding to support pharmaceutical research and early clinical trials.

George Drazenovic continues to bring his knowledge, leadership, and practical experience to education, business, and research.
