Green Beret Foundation Male United States of America

The Green Beret Foundation (GBF) is a nonprofit organization devoted to serving U.S. Army Special Forces Soldiers, their families, caregivers, and surviving loved ones. Since its inception in 2009, the Foundation has been a steadfast source of support for the Green Beret community, offering tailored assistance and specialized programs that address the unique challenges faced by these elite warriors and their families. Headquartered in Southern Pines, North Carolina, GBF remains deeply committed to honoring the sacrifice, resilience, and dedication of America’s most highly trained Soldiers while ensuring they and their families receive the care and resources they need.

The Foundation was established by Aaron Anderson, a Special Forces Soldier wounded in combat, who experienced firsthand the lack of comprehensive and immediate care available to injured Green Berets. His determination to fill that gap led to the founding of the Green Beret Foundation in 2009. Since then, GBF has expanded its reach and programs to support Green Berets throughout their entire service life cycle—from active duty to retirement, from injury to recovery, and from military to civilian transition. The Foundation’s work centers on empowering Soldiers and their families with practical support and essential resources that promote healing, growth, and long-term stability.

Through its Health & Wellness initiatives, the Foundation focuses on enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being by providing access to evidence-based therapies, including Stellate Ganglion Block for post-traumatic stress, infrared light therapy, and advanced recovery systems that promote rehabilitation and overall wellness. Task Force Tatanka, a key component of this initiative, supports psychological strength, family engagement, and peer connection, ensuring that Green Berets and their families have access to culturally aligned care and tools for resilience.

The Green Beret Foundation’s Casualty Support program provides immediate financial assistance to Soldiers and their families when injury, illness, or crisis occurs. This includes covering urgent needs such as travel, lodging, and caregiving expenses, allowing families to remain together during critical recovery periods. The Foundation also serves Gold Star and surviving families with long-term advocacy, financial assistance, and ongoing community connection, ensuring they receive care and recognition that lasts well beyond loss.

GBF’s Next Ridgeline program supports Soldiers transitioning to civilian life by providing educational guidance, career mentorship, and tailored tools for success. The Foundation’s Veteran Services Officers further assist by helping Soldiers and their families navigate the complexities of VA claims and benefits, securing financial stability and ongoing care. Family-focused initiatives such as the Steel Mags program and educational scholarships for spouses and children reinforce GBF’s mission to strengthen the entire Green Beret family.

Since its inception, the Green Beret Foundation has provided over $28 million in direct assistance and supported more than 26,000 families worldwide. With 84 percent of every dollar raised going directly to programs, the Foundation upholds the highest standards of accountability and transparency. Through its dedication, compassion, and enduring service, the Green Beret Foundation continues to honor the legacy of America’s Quiet Professionals—standing beside them and their families with loyalty, respect, and unwavering support.
