James Burleson Male United States of America

James Burleson has committed more than thirty years to a career that unites finance, entrepreneurship, and community service. Throughout this period, he has built businesses, guided investments, and supported ventures that prioritize both innovation and long-term objectives. Just as significant as his professional accomplishments is his dedication to philanthropy and civic involvement, where he has consistently given time and resources to causes that strengthen the community.

His career began with an early focus on financial markets. At only 24, James became one of the youngest seat holders and market makers on the Pacific Stock Exchange. His leadership qualities were quickly recognized, leading to his election as the youngest Chair of the Nominating Committee for the Board of Governors. These achievements set him apart in a demanding industry and laid the foundation for future success. Over the years, he advanced into senior positions at firms including Letco LMM, Joseph D. Heard Jr. Inc., Premier Trading Group, and Charles Schwab. During his tenure as Partner and Lead Market Maker at Letco, he significantly contributed to the company’s success until its acquisition by Toronto Dominion Bank in 2002. His expertise in derivatives and trading strategies became a central part of his professional identity.

In 2004, he established Burleson + Company, an independent advisory firm that grew to manage nearly $800 million in assets under management. The firm distinguished itself by combining traditional investment strategies with holistic planning, aligning financial decisions with clients’ long-term goals. He later expanded his entrepreneurial work through Northern Peak Consulting, offering guidance on growth and strategy to individuals and businesses. His vision also led to the creation of BCo Venture Fund I, which invested in early-stage companies. Among its highlights was an investment in Pathwater, a bottled water brand that brought sustainable practices to the market.

Service has remained a defining part of his life. For nearly two decades, he has been involved with the Sonoma–Marin Fair Board, supporting youth development, agricultural education, and cultural programs. James also spent more than ten years as a member of the Rotary Club of Petaluma, where he served as Treasurer of its foundation. His long-term service includes more than twenty years on the St. Vincent Parish Finance Committee and time on the Board of St. Vincent High School. Over the past 25 years, he has also supported organizations such as the Petaluma Educational Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, and Polly Klaas Foundation.

Raised in a military family, he learned discipline, adaptability, and responsibility early in life. After earning a finance degree from the University of Texas at Austin, he remained connected to his alma mater and his fraternity, Sigma Chi. Outside of professional life, he enjoys skiing with his children, golfing in the Utah mountains, traveling, and maintaining a strong interest in the markets.

James Burleson’s life and career show how financial expertise, entrepreneurial vision, and civic service can work together to create lasting impact. His journey reflects a legacy built on growth, responsibility, and dedication to both professional achievement and community service.
