Dr. Jill Abram, a distinguished board-certified psychiatrist from Indiana, has devoted 38 years to the field of psychiatry with a particular focus on child and adolescent mental health. Her career is marked by a commitment to healing and restoring the well-being of communities, families, and individuals through high-standard psychiatric care and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

She began her impactful journey as a psychiatrist with the Homeless Mobile Team at Midtown Mental Center in Indianapolis, serving from 1988 to 1990. She then took on a pivotal role as the psychiatrist for the Child Team for Mental Health in Anderson, Indiana, where she worked from 1990 to 1996, making lasting contributions to the lives of her patients.

In 1996, she transitioned into private practice in Fishers, Indiana, and simultaneously served as the psychiatrist at Pleasant Run Children's Home in Indianapolis. She continued her training in Anderson, Indiana, for nearly seven years, where she also worked as the adolescent psychiatrist at Northeast Juvenile Correctional Facility and Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility. Additionally, she provided psychiatric consulting at Fortville Christian Youth Home.

Her career further extended to include private practice in Indianapolis, roles at the Counseling Center at Christian Theological Seminary, and Family Counseling Center. She also served as a consulting adolescent psychiatrist at Richmond State Hospital and collaborated with the Medical Staff at Community Hospitals of Indianapolis.

Beyond Indiana, Jill Abram was a consultant at the Boys and Girls Home of Alaska and part of the medical team at North Star Hospital in Anchorage. She was instrumental in initiating psychiatric telemedicine services through the Four County Counseling Center, impacting the communities of Peru, Kokomo, and Logansport, Indiana.

Her consultative roles included working with the Department of Mental Health to develop integrated care systems involving the Department of Education and the Department of Families and Children. She also consulted with the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center and participated in the Conscience Development Research and Study Group and a Trauma and Dissociation study group.

Academically, she excelled, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Hanover College with a B.A. in Chemistry and minors in Biology and Psychology, receiving the "Long Citation for Outstanding Senior Woman." Her medical education at Indiana University School of Medicine included a research year and culminated in receiving the Academic Medicine Achievement Award. Her postgraduate training included residencies at St. Francis Hospital and a fellowship in Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she was honored with the Golden Apple Award. Before retiring, she was licensed in Indiana and Alaska and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Jill Abram has been a committed member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since June 1991.
