Jim Seebock has served as a Henderson, Nevada, City Councilman for the past 3 years. He works with the mayor and fellow council members to guide policies and decisions affecting Nevada’s second-largest city, including the historic Water District. Henderson is widely recognized as one of the safest and most livable cities in the country. In addition to his council responsibilities, he also represents the city through the Regional Transportation Commission, the Regional Flood Control board, and the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority.
Before entering public office, Jim spent more than 30 years with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Throughout his law enforcement career, he served in a variety of positions, including Patrol Officer, Narcotics Detective, K9 Handler, Patrol Sergeant, K9 Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Counterterrorism Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and Assistant Sheriff. In 2022, he was promoted to Assistant Sheriff, overseeing all uniformed officers within the department.
Councilman Jim Seebock's experience included leadership over public safety operations, tactical response teams, officer training programs, and counterterrorism efforts. He supervised training for approximately 5,000 department members and coordinated operations involving local, state, and federal agencies. During major emergencies, including the October 1, 2017, Las Vegas mass shooting, he was selected to lead the Department Operations Center responsible for coordinating response efforts.
During Jim's service, he received the Unit Medal of Valor, multiple Meritorious Service Medals, and the Community Service Award. He retired from law enforcement in July 2023 after decades of public service.
While continuing Seebock's law enforcement work, he earned degrees in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, and Security Studies. He also completed advanced Nevada POST certifications, leadership development programs, and specialized investigative training.
Jim Seebock, Councilman, moved to Henderson with his family in 1986 and attended local schools before graduating from high school. After losing his father during his teenage years, he helped support his family while his mother worked two jobs. He later married his high school sweetheart, and they became parents to twins through embryo adoption. He remains active in church service, volunteer youth coaching, local boards, and charitable work throughout the Henderson community.
