Keith Brautigam is a skilled IT and cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in identity and access management. Over the years, he has held various roles, advancing into leadership positions such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Prestigious University. His career has centered around improving security protocols, optimizing IT systems, and ensuring regulatory compliance across various sectors.
Keith was born in San Diego, California, and his family moved to the East Bay Area of San Francisco when he was two. He developed an interest in technology early on through friends with Amiga and Atari computers. Initially drawn to video games, he quickly shifted his focus to optimizing his computer’s performance for a better gaming experience. Later, his family relocated to Iowa City, Iowa, where he attended high school and earned a degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Iowa. This also allowed him to study abroad in Mérida, Venezuela.
After completing his degree, Keith faced challenges securing a job, mainly due to the economic downturn following the 1990s eCommerce bubble. He moved to the Research Triangle in North Carolina and worked as a supervisor at a Borders bookstore. While the position wasn’t aligned with his career goals, it allowed him to develop valuable customer service and leadership skills. Eventually, he returned to Iowa City and took an IT role at a medical research center, which marked the start of his career in IT. At the research center, he focused on system administration and data security, especially concerning HIPAA compliance.
Keith later transitioned to higher education, where he helped modernize systems and implement new technologies. His experience with Agile SCRUM software development practices led to his recruitment by the University of Iowa’s central IT department. In 2014, he joined Renowned University, moving through various roles and eventually becoming CISO and Interim CIO.
In 2023, he relocated to the Denver Metro Area and joined Hunter Douglas as the Global Cybersecurity Director of Identity and Access Management. There, he quickly established an IAM program, implemented an identity governance system, and enhanced security across several regions. Keith Brautigam’s career continues to reflect his leadership and expertise in IT and cybersecurity, and he remains committed to advancing security and technology wherever he works.
Following his tenure at Hunter Douglas, Keith transitioned over to Radiology Partners in 2025, maintaining a steady focus on IAM strategy.
