I was sitting in my hotel room in the Dominican Republic, looking out at the beautiful view of the resort's swimming pools and the ocean in the distance, and I was...

May was a slow reading month. I only read eight books last month, and I have no idea why my reading slowed down. I took a senior trip vacation to the Dominican...

I write this list every year of things I'll need to survive the summer, but this one is different from years' past. I'm usually bragging about the relief of just...

Reading with students is fun, apparently. I gave two nonfiction books and one fiction book perfect grades in April. The nonfiction books I read with students, one as...

Thank you so much, Starr. That means a ton to me, especially coming from you. It's difficult right now, but I know it will get better soon.

Kenna,
I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. Many times in education people have told me we have to look out for ourselves as institutions won't, no matter how much you've done for them. I saw this in one of my earlier positions, I believe it was the one that we first met online in when I was running the publications in my old school. Walking away from that position was so sad. I loved the kids. There is nothing better than a journalism class full of dedicated students or facilitating student media.

The university has truly lost an asset. I hope you find something new soon.
I'm sure the students will feel your loss, but understand, plus you'll be in touch with them I'm sure.

If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Starr

There is a single phrase I love hearing from students. When these words leave a student's mouth, I just want to jump over my desk and hug them. And I am not a...

I'd like a peek inside your productivity system. You may have read here before that I’m a real nerd when it comes to productivity. Ok, I’m a nerd, in general,...

It's rare for me to like more non-fiction books than fiction ones in any that I've read in any given month, but it happened in March. I read 11 books in March. Of...

I love productivity. I know that's probably a strange thing to say, but productivity and leadership are two subjects that I just never feel I can learn enough about. In...
