Mauricio Kalukango Male United States of America

Mauricio Kalukango currently holds the position of Equipment Service Associate at BMW Manufacturing USA, where he excels in industrial maintenance. His expertise primarily revolves around repairing and enhancing electrical and electromechanical systems for some of the global top original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Born in Botswana to parents from Angola, he moved to the United States in 1982, making Atlanta, GA, his home. This relocation sparked his passion for aviation, leading him to pursue and complete an Aviation Maintenance course at Atlanta Technical College.

Despite the setbacks caused by the economic downturn following the 9/11 attacks and the housing market crash, Kalukango redirected his career toward heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) technology. This shift not only broadened his technical capabilities but also facilitated his entrance into the field of machine maintenance.

Kalukango has since held significant roles at renowned companies such as Caterpillar Inc. and Pumpingsol. He managed advanced industrial equipment critical for seamless, high-speed operations in these positions. His experiences deepened his knowledge of industrial automation and process equipment, ensuring his proficiency with the latest technological advancements in manufacturing.

Kalukango's early life was marked by the challenges of the Angolan civil war, prompting his family to move to a refugee camp in Botswana. They later migrated to the USA, choosing Atlanta as their base. Here, his father, a craftsman and construction foreman, instilled in him the values of diligence and unity. These values helped Kalukango excel in various aspects of life, including his participation in community and educational activities. He was particularly active at the Carver Eastside Boy's Club. He excelled in high school academic and extracurricular activities, ultimately serving as Student Body President when he graduated in 1997.

After high school, Kalukango attended Mercer University to study Mechanical Engineering but switched to Atlanta Technical College due to his growing interest in aviation maintenance. This decision led to obtaining an FAA certification. As the industry faced regulatory changes, he decided to expand his skills in HVACR technology at Fortis College in Georgia, preparing him for the evolving demands of the automated manufacturing sector.

His career has been characterized by adaptability, transitioning from an airframe and power plant maintenance technician to roles requiring advanced knowledge in control systems and high-tech machinery. His expertise and adaptability caught the eye of BMW, leading to his recruitment in 2018. Since joining BMW, he has played a crucial role in their robotics and automation operations at the Greenville, SC, facility.
On the personal front, Kalukango is a dedicated father of two who is deeply committed to maintaining strong familial bonds. His zest for adventure and cultural exploration has taken him on numerous global travels.
Notably, he has embarked on an extensive tour of over 20 historical sites in Egypt and explored the dynamic landscapes of Colombia. His trip to the Dominican Republic, where he was captivated by the country's stunning mountain ranges and fertile valleys, remains one of his most memorable experiences.

Mauricio Kalukango's career and personal life are a testament to his resilience, adaptability, and unyielding pursuit of excellence. These qualities have not only helped him navigate through various industry changes but have also established him as a key figure in the realm of industrial maintenance, continually pushing the boundaries in a technologically advancing field.
