Michael Gastinel is a power generation technician with nearly ten years of experience in utility-scale energy operations. Based in Granbury, Texas, he specializes in plant systems, instrumentation and controls, and turbine operations. His background includes work with GE 7FA and 7EA turbines and DCS platforms such as GE Mark VI and Emerson Ovation. He also has experience with emissions compliance systems. With a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, he is dedicated to improving plant reliability, mentoring new technicians, and maintaining operational safety and performance.

He was born and raised in Granbury, Texas, as the youngest of three siblings in a family that valued hard work, service, and faith. His early years were influenced by school, church, and Scouts, where he developed teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Regular attendance at Catholic Mass and participation in the Boy Scouts of America helped shape his sense of discipline and responsibility. His commitment to Scouting earned him the rank of Eagle Scout in 2008, an achievement that reflected his perseverance and dedication to personal growth.

After graduating from Granbury High School in 2008, Michael Victor Gastinel took a year off to gain hands-on experience and worked as a sheet metal mechanic. This job introduced him to skilled trades and practical problem-solving. When the Great Recession caused widespread layoffs, he decided to use that challenge as motivation to pursue higher education. He began studying Computer Science, but later discovered a more substantial interest in applied electronics and electrical systems. This realization led him to major in Electrical Engineering Technology. Balancing part-time work with academics, he earned his Bachelor of Science from The University of Toledo in 2015.

After completing his degree, he joined Troy Energy, LLC in Ohio as a Combustion Turbine Specialist. His responsibilities included turbine operations, calibration, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and emissions data management. He was involved in NERC compliance reporting, maintained CEMS and GADS systems, mentored new hires, and supported a successful NERC audit with no findings. His attention to detail and commitment to reliability strengthened overall plant operations.

In 2022, he returned to Texas and joined Luminant Generation Company, LLC, working first at the Forney Plant and later transferring to the DeCordova Power Plant in his hometown. His experience expanded to include turbine operations, DCS troubleshooting, and battery energy storage systems. He also served as the Behavior-Based Safety Champion, promoting safe work practices and proactive communication within the team. His knowledge of GE turbine platforms and DCS systems made him a valuable asset in maintaining performance and reliability.

Outside work, he enjoys cars, electronics, golf, fitness, and spending time with family. A lifelong car enthusiast, he enjoys maintaining his vehicles and keeping up with advances in automotive technology. His Catholic faith remains integral to his life, guiding his principles and community involvement. Michael Gastinel continues to pursue professional growth with a focus on technical excellence, teamwork, and integrity, remaining dedicated to his career and values.
