Norman Badger has dedicated over three decades to his career with Publix, the employee-owned grocery chain in the United States. Publix operates more than 1,400 stores in eight southeastern states, with the most significant number of locations in Florida, as well as in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He began his career in 1995 as a front-service clerk in Aiken, South Carolina, where he gained valuable experience working in several hourly roles. In 2007, he became a store manager, responsible for budgets, staffing, customer service, and daily operations. His leadership in that role led to his promotion to District Manager in 2014, where he supervised multiple stores, guided managers, and ensured company policies and goals were achieved. Three years later, he was promoted to Regional Director, with responsibilities that included overseeing several districts, focusing on operational alignment, long-term planning, and developing future leaders.
In 2020, Norman Badger, Publix, was promoted to Vice President of Product Business Development for the Bakery and Meat departments. In this role, he worked to expand product offerings, build strong supplier partnerships, negotiate contracts, and improve merchandising and supply chain strategies. His efforts ensured that product strategies aligned with customer preferences and company objectives. In 2024, he advanced to Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, a position in which he now oversees all store-level operations across the company’s footprint. He leads regional and store teams, drives operational consistency, and supports the company’s long-term strategy. He has always valued the people he works with and remains grateful for the opportunities that have shaped his career.
He was born in Jacksonville, FL, and married his high school sweetheart in 2001. Together, they have a son and have lived in several cities, including Atlanta, Charleston, and Raleigh, before returning to Florida. Family is very important to him, and they enjoy traveling and making memories together. Sports are also an essential part of his personal life. He and his son are fans of the Steelers and Penn State, attending games each season as part of a tradition they share. In 2023, they traveled to Glendale, Arizona, to see the Kansas City Chiefs play the Eagles, a memorable highlight of their experiences together. His son plays JV football in several positions and also participates in basketball. Watching him compete brings pride, and over the years, he has collected keepsakes from their trips that reflect the bond they share.
