Oren Forgette, born on June 7, 2001, in Buffalo, New York, stands out as a promising young physicist at SUNY Geneseo. He is diligently working towards a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics with a minor in Mathematics. His academic and extracurricular activities showcase his commitment to his studies and his active involvement in community and leadership roles.

Oren's academic journey was robustly launched at City Honors High School in Buffalo, where he excelled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and earned his NY Regents Diploma in June 2019. During high school, he also distinguished himself as co-captain of the rowing team, demonstrating his leadership skills and athletic abilities in national competitions.

Now at SUNY Geneseo, Oren has maintained a steady 3.0 GPA, consistently meeting the demands of a rigorous curriculum while preparing for graduation in May 2024. His academic success is complemented by his active participation in research projects that add depth to his educational experience.

During the summer of 2023, Oren engaged in a significant research initiative through the NASA NY Space Grant. Under the mentorship of Dr. Pellerin, he worked on a project that enhanced RGB images of galaxies using data from the Hubble Space Telescope. This project advanced his understanding of astrophysics and contributed valuable insights into studying planetary nebulae.

In a notable technical project, Oren utilized Labview software to engineer a system controlling two-stepping motors. This setup was designed to coordinate the movements of a toy car and a live-stream camera, which exemplified his innovative approach to solving complex technical problems.

Beyond the confines of the laboratory, Oren's leadership skills have flourished. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, leading a project to build a deer enclosure, significantly contributing to environmental conservation efforts. As the Sports Chair of the Zeta Beta Xi Fraternity at SUNY Geneseo, he organizes and promotes sporting events, fostering a spirit of teamwork and health among students.

Oren's work experience is also notable. He has served in customer-facing roles at the Cheesy Chick Cafe & Food Trucks and as a delivery driver for DoorDash, further developing his time management and customer service skills.

Outside of his rigorous academic schedule, Oren remains committed to rowing. This sport teaches him discipline and perseverance, and he has developed an interest in stand-up comedy, which allows him to engage creatively with a broad audience.
