Rami Beracha Male United States of America

Rami Beracha is an Israeli venture capitalist and a general partner at Eden Block, a London-based global investment firm focused on foundational infrastructure for the new Open Internet. Born in Tel Aviv in 1961, he enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces in 1980 and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, Battalion 890. During the first Lebanon War, he fought in the eastern sector as part of an infantry cadet battalion. After the war, he completed his combat officers’ course with the highest distinction, ranking first among 250 special forces cadets. He returned to his unit as a platoon commander in August 1982.

In 1983, while stationed in the Ein Zhalta area in the Shouf Mountains of Lebanon, he participated in an operational mission under his battalion commander. During this mission, a force led by a second lieutenant entered a wild minefield, causing three soldiers to be wounded by mines. He was sent as part of a rescue team and stepped on a mine himself, which resulted in the loss of his right hand and left foot, along with severe injury to his left hand.

After a lengthy rehabilitation, he returned to active reserve service in an elite unit and continues to serve in the reserves. During the recent ongoing conflict, he was on active reserve duty for 450 days with the Elite 98 Brigade.

Rami Beracha began his professional career as an attorney at a prominent Wall Street law firm, where he worked for four years, specializing in restructuring and securities. He later spent 18 years as a managing partner at Pitango Venture Capital Fund, Israel’s largest venture capital firm, managing over $2.5 billion, with 90 mergers and acquisitions and 25 IPOs. He focused on deep-tech Web 2 investments and served on the boards of several startups later acquired by major companies, including Apple, Cisco, Marvel, Microsoft, Oracle, and others. He has more than 20 successful exits and has been recognized multiple times as one of Israel’s top five venture capital partners. In 2011, he was honored as the "Most Respected Partner" in an annual survey of Israeli startup entrepreneurs and managers.

In 2018, he joined Eden Block, a global venture capital fund dedicated to blockchain technologies and the decentralized digital economy. His extensive experience guiding startups through early funding, growth, market strategy, and exit negotiations has been valuable to the firm and its portfolio companies. He also co-founded an open innovation company based in Tel Aviv.

Before his injury, he was a competitive tennis player in the national league with a prominent Tel Aviv tennis club. His passion for sports continued despite his injuries, leading him to pursue extreme sports such as mountain biking, snowboarding, and kitesurfing, which he mastered despite losing two limbs. He also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, demonstrating his perseverance and resilience.

He serves on an association's board supporting disabled veterans, providing health, education, and well-being assistance. He volunteers as a speaker to military officers, entrepreneurs, injured soldiers, and students, sharing insights on resilience and decision-making under pressure. He regularly visits injured soldiers to encourage them, mentors veterans in business, and supports low-income families through philanthropy.

Rami Beracha earned his JD from Tel Aviv University in 1989, followed by an LLM in Banking and Financing from Fordham University in 1992. He also holds an MBA from INSEAD in France.
