Reema Shah United States of America

Reema Shah’s work over the years reflects a thoughtful balance between analytical rigor and a consistent commitment to meaningful social progress. Her career spans more than twenty-five years across investing, advising, philanthropy, and education. Throughout each stage, she has relied on careful evaluation and steady purpose to guide her decisions.

Her introduction to finance began at Stern Stewart & Co. in New York, where she evaluated companies using the EVA framework. This experience exposed her to a wide variety of industries and helped her build a disciplined approach to understanding corporate performance. She expanded on this foundation through roles at Morgan Stanley and Fayez Sarofim & Co., where she focused on sector analysis, valuation, and direct engagement with company leaders, gaining further insight into how businesses operate and grow.

In 2000, after earning her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Reema joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as an equity research analyst. Her responsibilities involved conducting in-depth research and presenting investment recommendations to institutional clients. This work solidified her strengths in analysis and deepened her understanding of public markets.

Reema later took on a leadership role at JWS Technology Funds, ultimately serving as managing director and partner. She began as an analyst and later co-managed a multi-billion-dollar technology-focused mutual fund. During this time, she also invested in software and consumer companies for the firm’s hedge fund, which grew from $10 million to more than $1 billion. Her ability to interpret shifting market trends and recognize opportunities in competitive sectors earned her respect as a thoughtful and capable investor. As she progressed, she became increasingly interested in connecting her financial background to mission-driven ventures.

This shift took form in 2010, when she co-founded Foundze, Inc., an online platform designed to help parents and educators find top-rated educational apps for children. The project represented her growing commitment to supporting impactful, purpose-oriented initiatives. Her dedication to social innovation continued during her advisory position at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley from 2014 to 2017. She helped spearhead the launch of the Social Impact Collective in 2016, a program designed to help professionals strengthen their philanthropic and impact investment strategies.

Reema continued her work supporting entrepreneurs through her role as managing director at Golden Seeds in Silicon Valley. She co-led investment rounds and formed partnerships that connected investors with women-led, high-growth companies. She also worked closely with students at Stanford University’s Center for Social Innovation, advising StartUp Garage teams as they developed ventures to address real-world challenges.

Her later career included overseeing a diverse portfolio of public companies and multi-asset funds as an investor with ARA Family LLC. She also contributed to The Acceleration Project (TAP) as a consultant and Chairperson of the West Coast Advisory Board, supporting small business owners through practical, hands-on consulting.

Alongside her professional roles, Reema has remained active in education and community service. She volunteers with organizations such as Peninsula Bridge, the Ravenswood Foundation, Sacred Heart Schools (Atherton), and the University of Pennsylvania. She has also given her time to the San Francisco Food Bank and There With Care. Her service on advisory boards, including the Menlo School and the Netter Center at the University of Pennsylvania, reflects her belief in linking educational efforts with civic engagement.

Reema’s philanthropic priorities center on expanding access, providing mentorship, and enriching students and families. Outside of her work, she enjoys hiking, cooking, playing pickleball, and spending time exploring the arts, fashion, and technology.

Her path continues to show how measured financial insight and a commitment to community can work together to create lasting, meaningful impact.
