Rich Turasky is an experienced investment entrepreneur specializing in commercial real estate investment, finance, and development. With more than 30 years in the industry, he has built a career rooted in private and institutional equity partnerships, operational leadership, and disciplined capital deployment. As Founder and CEO of the Capital Companies, he has led more than 100 commercial real estate investments across several states.
His work has resulted in diversified portfolios that include office, industrial, retail, and multifamily properties serving over 1,000 tenants. He has overseen acquisition sourcing, financial structuring, development management, and long-term asset performance. His approach emphasizes detailed market analysis, prudent leverage, and strong operational systems designed to protect and grow investor capital.
Beyond real estate, Rich has founded, led, and served on the executive boards of more than 20 operating companies across industries, including plastic manufacturing, pharmaceutical development, aviation, beverage distribution, brokerage, and commercial lending. In many of these ventures, he has played a dual role as capital partner and strategic leader, helping organizations scale while strengthening governance practices.
He has also been involved in private and public mergers and initial public offerings totaling approximately $2 billion in recent years. Serving as a founding shareholder and board member in several transactions, he has contributed to acquisition strategy, capital markets positioning, and executive oversight during periods of accelerated growth and transformation.
Born in 1970, Rich earned a Bachelor of Arts from Bradley University in 1992. He later pursued executive education at Harvard University to enhance his leadership and strategic planning capabilities. Committed to mentorship and education, he has been a featured speaker at the University of Illinois, sharing insights on entrepreneurship and real estate investing.
Early in his professional journey, he advised major Chicago-area operating companies on commercial real estate matters while identifying high-potential investment opportunities. Over time, he expanded into complex deal structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and multi-state portfolio management. His development initiatives include the Huntley SPEC Industrial project.
Rich Turasky received the 2006 Entrepreneurial Award from the Business Ledger in recognition of his business accomplishments. He supports charitable organizations such as the Elgin United Way and the Dundee Township Boys and Girls Club. An instrument-rated pilot, he values preparation, focus, and accountability in both aviation and business leadership.
