In 1978, Robert became a Sales Representative for Pacific Intermountain Express (P.I.E.), contributing to the company's growth through his expertise in sales and service delivery to purchasing managers and receivers. The Motor Carrier Act of 1980 further influenced his career trajectory, following which he obtained a freight broker license in 1982, establishing Balanced Transport Systems.
After leaving Parker’s Express, he utilized his vast industry experience and network to found Balanced Transport Services (BTS), focusing on the transportation management needs of SMBs in New England.
