Robert Harris is the Executive Vice President of Business Development at JH Kelly, a prominent industrial contractor specializing in MEP and specialty projects based in Longview, Washington. With over 1,200 employees and reporting annual revenues of over $500 million, his strategic insights and extensive experience spanning over 35 years in the construction industry have been crucial in propelling the company's growth and reinforcing its market position.



Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1966, he moved to the United States in 1975 when his father secured an engineering job in Seattle, Washington. This move shaped his early interest in construction and engineering, where he would later excel. Additionally, his active involvement in hockey during his youth taught him the importance of teamwork and discipline—qualities that have greatly influenced his professional approach. He graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Humanities.



His professional journey began in a somewhat unexpected arena as an auditor for a pension fund. While initially outside his preferred sector, this role equipped him with a foundational understanding of business and finance, which proved invaluable. He also met his future wife during this time, adding a personal milestone to his career journey. He eventually transitioned to the construction industry, taking a pivotal role at Sverdrup Engineering as a project engineer, where he managed the expansion of SeaTac Airport's Concourse D.



His tenure at JH Kelly started when he joined the company as a Field Engineer. His robust skill set and adept leadership quickly led to promotions, first to Business Development Manager and then to Director of Marketing and Business Development. His success in these roles paved the way for his current position as Vice President, overseeing the company's strategic marketing and business development initiatives.



In 2018, he was instrumental in integrating Portland Mechanical Contractors into JH Kelly following its acquisition. His leadership ensured a smooth transition, effectively merging the operations and cultures of the two companies. He has also been involved in several other acquisitions that have expanded JH Kelly's capabilities and market reach.



Outside of Rob Harris's professional commitments, he enjoys traveling with his wife of 33 years and engaging in various cultural experiences. He is a committed family man, deeply involved in the lives of his three children and grandchildren. His participation in hockey continues in a senior league, reflecting his ongoing dedication to sportsmanship and physical fitness.
