One of the numerous problems of transferring a complicated business from its Founder's era to its current phase confronted Newman's Own with a unique, existential dilemma. Newman's Own was forced to dissolve apart due to an unanticipated result of an old tax rule around the middle of November 2018. Robert H. Forrester was successful in having bipartisan legislation approved and signed into law in February 2018, creating a new type of American business model known as "The Philanthropic Enterprise," after nine years of personal effort and as many as 200 related meetings in a single year. Newman's Own was able to continue operating as planned, and dozens of additional social entrepreneurs were able to launch enterprises with the promise of donating 100% of their revenues.
