His work continued internationally in the Marshall Islands, overseeing two projects under the US Corps of Engineers contract. His role expanded to include environmental liaison duties and safety oversight, ensuring all activities complied with EM-385 regulations. His attention to detail and commitment to accountability were key to these projects' safe and sustainable progress.

Upon returning to the United States, he continued to apply his expertise in heavy civil engineering projects. Hume Campo contributed to significant efforts with Kiewit Construction and Ames Construction, focusing on active railroad construction, tunneling, mining, and open-pit operations. His certifications and extensive field experience allowed him to provide critical guidance and maintain high safety standards in complex environments.

Robert Hume also took on safety oversight responsibilities for NavFac and Corps of Engineers projects in multiple states.
