George Shervey brings 15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and eight years in aerospace. He spent over 14 years at a company now known as Onto Innovation. Between 2012 and 2015, he led efforts to secure ISO 9001 International Quality Management Systems certification for the first time in the company’s history. Following this success, he was promoted to Quality Systems Manager, overseeing a 600-plus employee organization with operations in the U.S. and abroad. In this position, he implemented cost-saving measures that reduced PCB assembly expenses by $364,000 in one year and led a team of 14 internal quality auditors across various business units.
Before becoming a manager, Rolf was a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, authoring internal documentation and collaborating with third-party auditors. He started at the company as a Senior Applications Engineer, working on-site with metrology equipment in partnership with SEMATECH at SUNY Albany. His role included testing sensor technologies, coordinating installations and integrations of equipment ranging from $1 million to $5 million, and providing training to clients in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, and Europe.
His contributions during this period earned him a place in “Who’s Who In Engineering” in 2011.
George Shervey later held several key roles, including Senior Applications Engineer, Technical Support Manager, Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, Regional Subcontracts Manager, and Production Quality Engineer. These roles allowed him to contribute to multiple high-technology and aerospace initiatives, focusing on supplier management, subcontract coordination, and production support.
After graduating high school, Rolf enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Nuclear Reactor Operator on submarines. His military experience involved multiple relocations and earned recognition for his service. After leaving the Navy, he relocated to civilian roles where his technical skills were in high demand.
While working full-time and traveling internationally, George Shervey completed a Bachelor of Science in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in Tempe. He also earned certifications in Nuclear Electronics Technician Maintenance Supervisor Training and Submarine Reactor Operations & Maintenance through the U.S. Navy. Additionally, he completed ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor training certified by Exemplar Global, with the certification valid until 2019.
Rolf was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and lives in Melbourne, Florida. He is a practicing Roman Catholic and attends Mass regularly.
He has been a member of the American Legion and the Wounded Warrior Project for over 15 years and a donor and member of the Heritage Foundation for more than seven years. His values are reflected in his interest in civil society, human rights, economic development, the arts, culture, and global cooperation.
His hobbies include traveling, writing, photography, cooking, and spending time outdoors. He also writes about causes that matter to him, such as veterans' mental health and suicide prevention, and organizations such as the Til Valhalla Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Flanders Fields, and the American Legion, which support veterans and their families through housing, memorials, and outreach.
