Roy Y. Gagaza is president and CEO of Journey Wealth Management, LLC, a retirement-focused financial firm with offices in Manteca, California, and in Aiea and Honolulu, Hawaii, where he helps people prepare for life after work through careful planning. He draws on a degree in business marketing and years of leadership experience to explain critical financial topics in a clear, respectful tone. He aims to understand each client’s situation, family needs, and goals so that strategies remain practical, understandable, and oriented toward long-term stability rather than short-term trends.

Roy first built his career in the U.S. Army, beginning in the Reserve and later serving more than twenty years on active duty as an Armor Officer. He became airborne and ranger qualified, led a tank platoon with the 1st Armored Division during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, and later commanded a cavalry troop in South Korea. He also served as an operations and training officer who helped units from company through brigade level prepare for deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, earning the Bronze Star for his service.

Roy Y. Gagaza began preparing for his second profession while still in uniform, using limited off-duty hours to meet with families, host educational seminars, and study for credentials as a Certified Estate Planner and Registered Financial Consultant. He continued this work even during a year-long deployment to Kuwait in 2004, gradually building experience and trust. After retiring from the Army in 2008, he chose to continue serving others by guiding individuals and couples as they work toward clearer, more confident retirement plans.

Roy now focuses his practice on retirement planning, investment and wealth management, tax strategies, health care planning, and legacy and estate services for his firm's clients. He has been inducted into the Advisors Excel Hall of Fame and has received the Advisors Excel Elite Advisor Award every year since 2018. He has also earned the Security Benefit Elite Advisor Award in 2018 and 2020, and the Allianz Century Award for reaching $100 million in premium, which he views as a reflection of client trust and teamwork.

Gagaza extends his work beyond the office by sharing financial education with the broader community, including highway patrol personnel, local school districts, chambers of commerce, certified public accountants, and many pre-retirees and retirees who attend his seminars. He designs these events to focus on preserving assets, building retirement income strategies, and using tax-efficient approaches to help reduce tax impact. He also encourages participants to ask questions so they can leave with greater understanding and a sense of direction.

Roy Y. Gagaza earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from San Jose State University, holds the designations of Certified Estate Planner and Registered Financial Consultant, and maintains insurance licenses in Hawaii (number 458231) and California (number 0L87925). He grew up in Livermore, California, on the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area. He and his spouse are partners in life and in the firm they co-founded, raising three adult children and enjoying time with young grandchildren. At the same time, he pursues interests such as golf, travel, water activities, reading, and charitable support for veterans, food banks, animal rescue, and backcountry trail groups.
