T. Edward Vives: Born in 1964 in Auburn, Alabama, he embarked on his musical journey at age 4. His first foray into music was through piano lessons under the expert guidance of Edgar and Dorothy Glyde. This early exposure to music blossomed into a lifelong passion, leading him to explore other aspects of music. During his public school education, he added trombone performance and music composition to his repertoire, showcasing his diverse musical talents.

He pursued bachelor's degrees in Composition and Music Education at Florida State University, where he studied under renowned composers John Boda and Charles Carter. In addition to honing his compositional skills, he improved his trombone performance under William Cramer and John Drew and studied conducting with James Croft. His professional attitude and dedication were evident early in his career, propelling him to pursue a Master of Music in Composition and Music Theory. Later, he achieved a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Florida, marking significant milestones in his educational journey.

He serves as the Musical and Artistic Director of the Los Alamos Community Winds, an adult community wind ensemble. This ensemble has consistently achieved recognition as a finalist for the American Prize, Community Wind Ensemble Division, notably achieving first runner-up in 2012. His compositions have not only been performed worldwide but have also received notable awards, including the North Cheshire 2003 Composition Competition. His musical vision and creativity earned him the honor of being the Commissioned Composer for the Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico in 2003 and 2010. In 2011, he was awarded the American Prize in Composition (Choral Division) and placed 3rd in the 2015 American Prize in Conducting, further cementing his status in music.
