Thomas Kuriakose, MD Male United States of America

Thomas Kuriakose, MD, is a New York, NY-based physician specializing in pediatric critical care. He is completing a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. In 2022, he finished his pediatric residency through the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. His work has focused on improving care for underserved populations and advancing health equity in pediatric medicine.

Thomas earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Economics from a college in Massachusetts. Following graduation, he joined a teaching program in Mississippi, where he spent three years teaching high school courses such as Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry, Statistics, and SATP Biology. His students consistently performed above state testing averages. Alongside teaching, he coached track and field and soccer, helping student-athletes achieve recognition at the state level. These experiences profoundly influenced his commitment to working with youth and shaped his decision to pursue a medical career.

Thomas later earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction before attending medical school in New Jersey. During his medical training, he co-founded a mentorship program for adolescents with HIV. He held leadership roles at a student-run free clinic, eventually becoming the clinic director. He was also involved in a team-based training initiative to improve healthcare communication and patient safety. His efforts earned him a distinction for community service.

During residency, Thomas contributed to curriculum development and participated in health equity-focused education. As a fellow, his research centers on enhancing provider-family communication in pediatric intensive care, especially regarding acute respiratory failure. He also helped implement Health Equity Rounds within his department, encouraging conversations around disparities in care and systemic barriers.

Thomas Kuriakose, MD, continues integrating his teaching, clinical care, and advocacy background to support critically ill children and promote equitable practices within pediatric healthcare.
