Kim Ha-seong failed to set a new multi-on-base Asian record, but the streak of hits was 'Joo-wook'

Kim Ha-sung of the San Diego Padres in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) failed to surpass Japanese baseball legend Ichiro Suzuki, but his hit streak continued for 14 consecutive games.

Kim Ha-sung started as the first batter and second baseman in the Seattle Mariners away game at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, on the 9th and recorded one hit in four at-bats. He hit 14 consecutive games since the Pittsburgh Pirates game on the 25th of last month.

However, he failed to break the record of multiple on-base hits (more than two on-base hits in one game) in consecutive Asian batters. Kim Ha-sung, along with Ichiro, will remain tied for first place as an Asian hitter in this category with multiple on-base hits in 15 consecutive games.

Kim Ha-sung stepped down as the leadoff hitter in the top of the first inning with a swing strikeout and also struck out with two outs in the third inning when he faced 0-0.In the third at-bat in the sixth inning, he struck out, but the strike decision was unclear. Kim Ha-sung endured the ball that went deep into his body in two balls and two strikes, but the referee ruled it as a strike. Kim Ha-sung protested to the referee and went into the dugout.

In the final attack of the ninth inning, when he was being dragged 0-2, Kim Ha-sung made a hit with his unique batting technique. Kim Ha-sung tapped the outer slider for the third pitch and connected it to a heavy hit while being driven by two strikes.

Choi Ji-man came out as a pinch hitter in the top of the eighth inning and was replaced by a pinch hitter after getting a walk. San Diego lost 0-2 and lost three games in a row.
