I feel the decision is heavily influenced by how much you invest and prioritize your website(s). I would choose PHP if forecasting a frequent change of hands, or you already know the websites won't be receiving a large portion of the budget. PHP is easier for an employee to learn on the job, and there are more resources and web developers, which lowers your cost significantly. However, Python is really the better choice if you can afford to invest in it, either internally or using a marketing firm. I feel the business model is shifting, and with the increased demand for omnichannel marketing, companies will need to increase their budgets for digital marketing by at least 25%.
